BIG ROAD WINS FOR THE CAPS

The Oil Caps are on a roll, having clinched three consecutive road wins, fueling excitement and optimism among their fans. With a newfound energy and cohesion, the team has been playing with intensity and precision, showcasing both offensive firepower and strong defensive play. The Oil Caps are proving they have what it takes to be a formidable force as we start the second half of the season.

On Tuesday January 7th the Caps headed to the provinces capital to take on the Winnipeg Freeze at the Hockey for All Centre. The Oil Caps came out strong with 4 goals in the first period alone. Goal scorers in the first were Sabel, Siemens, Miller, and Tokariwski who scored short-handed. The second period came and went as Goertzen was the lone goal scorer for the caps that period. Dodgson added to the goal total with one in third and Goertzen got his second goal of the night off the power play. The final was 7-2 for the Oil Caps.

The Caps then hit the road to Niverville on Sunday January 14th to play the Nighthawks. The first period showed no scoring on the board for either team. Both teams were eager to get the first goal of the game in the second period and for the Oil Caps, Robertson made that happen. The Nighthawks came out strong in the third period scoring 2 goals until Guthrie tied up the score with a goal for the Caps. The game headed into overtime where neither team could score. The game went into a shootout where Bryant secured the win for the Caps. The final score was 3-2 for the Oil Caps.

The third win in a row for the Caps came on Tuesday January 14th in Selkirk vs the Steelers. The Oil Caps looked strong in the first period and Schaefer opened the scoring late with a power play goal. The Steelers tied the game up with a lone goal in the second period. The third period the Caps secured the win with 2 goals, one from Wright and the other from Goertzen. The final score was 3-1 for the Oil Caps.

The Oil Caps next game action is this weekend where they play back-to-back games. Friday night at Tundra Oil & Gas Place in Virden vs the Niverville Nighthawks at 7:30 pm and Saturday At Winkler Icon Arena vs the Winkler Flyers at 7:30pm.
