Virden, MB – Scott Parsons made 21 saves for the shutout as the Winnipeg Blues took a stranglehold on their MJHL Quarter-Final Series with a 2-0 road victory on Saturday night.
For the 2nd straight night the Oil Caps offense dried up, especially on the power play where the club went 0/6. In the last two games the Caps man advantage is a combined 1/13.
The Blues opened the scoring in the first period when Riley Hillis found the back of the net on the power play.
The Blues would make it a 2-0 game late in the 2nd on a sharp angled shot from below the goal line.
The Caps couldn’t generate any momentum throughout the night and weren’t able to muster any quality scoring chances in the third and drop their 2nd game this week.
For the first time this season the Oil Caps will face elimination.
Game Six of the series goes on Monday night at the MTS Iceplex. Puck drop is 7:00.
The Oil Caps are sending a fan bus to the game. Leaving TOGP at 3:45. Cost is $40.00.
