Oil Caps goaltender Braxton Burdeny has been named an MJHL Star of the week for January 12th, 2026 – January 18th, 2026.
Burdeny put together an impressive week in goal for the Oil Caps, coming up big in two crucial wins that helped solidify the team’s position at the top of the MGEU West Division standings. Burdeny had a strong showing against the Kings, turning aside 31 shots in a tightly contested 3–2 victory, showcasing his composure and ability to rise to the moment in key situations. He followed that performance with a perfect game against the Blues, stopping all 19 shots he faced to secure a shutout.
The Oil Caps now sit alone in first place in the MGEU West Division. As the new week begins, Burdeny and the Caps also hold a significant advantage in the standings, with four games in hand on the Kings, giving the team both momentum and flexibility as they continue their push through the second half of the season.
