Capitals Add Potter to Coaching Staff

Virden, MB – The Virden Oil Capitals have added former Melville Millionaire Goaltender Ryan Potter to the staff in the role of Goaltending Coach. 

Potter played 4-years in the CJHL, three with the Millionaires (SJHL) between 1992-1995 and wrapped up his career in the AJHL with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons where he was teammates with future NHL star Chris Phillips. 

Since his retirement, Potter has worked dozens of goaltending clinics and schools and worked with Bantam, Midget and Junior aged net minders.  

On top of that, He has been a regional scout and goaltending consultant for the Dauphin Kings.

“Im excited to get back on the ice and work with guys on a 1 on 1 level and build on their strengths and work towards every day improvement” said Potter. 

Potter is no stranger to the Oil Capitals as him and his wife have been Billets since the inaugural season as well as being a key part of the Oil Caps Radio Broadcasts with Ray Walker.

“Its a thrill to join the Oil Capitals and work with Troy and Chad. There is a great thing going here and to be able to do it in my home community where I work and live is even better.”

Potter works at Tundra Oil & Gas and will be assisting the goaltenders when Camp opens on Friday at Tundra Oil & Gas Place.
