Capitals Take Down Flyers

Virden, MB – Oil Caps continue on their winnings ways after beating Winkler Flyers tonight, 3-0.  Marc Audet earned his second win as an Oil Cap and his first shutout in tonight’s game.

The first period was a lot of back and forth action with neither team able to get one on the board. Shots on goal after the first period were 12-10 in favour of the Caps.

The Oil Caps put one up on the board first at 9:57 in the second period. The powerplay goal was scored by #22 Mack Hardy assisted by #12 Tyler Kirkup and #20 Ben Dalke. 

The third period the Caps capitalized at 5:00 minutes – goal was scored by #9 Sam Shultz for his first of the season assisted by #8 Tristen Cross, 2-0 Caps. The Caps finished the game off with an empty net goal scored by #24 Dlyan Cusmano at 19:58 in the third period to earn their fifth win of the season, beating Flyers 3-0. Final shots on goal were 40 – 36 in favour of the Caps.

The Caps record is 5-2-1 and currently sit in third place in the league with 11 points close behind the first place team- Pistons that have 14 points. With tonights win the Caps extend their winning streak to three. 

Caps next game is at home Tuesday, October 11 vs OCN Blizzard – puck drop 7:30p.m.
