Virden, MB - The Caps were finally back in their home barn after a four-game stretch on the road. They were looking to get back in the win column and did just that beating the Steelers in a close 4-3 game.
The Steelers got on the board first finding the back of the net at 2:42 in the first period. The Caps answered back at 19:52 in the period with a goal from Tyler Kirkup assisted by Mack Hardy and Ben Dalke. After 20-minutes of play the game was tied 1-1 and shots on goal were 12-10 in favour of the Steelers.
The Caps got on the board early in the second period with a goal from Dylan Cusmano – his second of the season assisted by Ben Dalke and Sam Schultz. The Steelers scored midway through the second period to tie the game 2-2. That wasn’t all for the Caps as they would capitalize one more time to take the lead late in the second with a goal from Mack Hardy assisted by Tyler Kirkup and Carter Cowlthorp. At the end of the second period, the Caps were in the lead, 3-2 and shots on goal were 9-9.
The Steelers tied the game up at 3:43 in the third period. The Caps would answer back with a power-play goal from Ben Dalke assisted by Mack Hardy and Tyler Kirkup at 13:16 in the third. Dalke’s goal would be enough for the Caps to hold the lead and win the game 4-3. The final shots on goal were 32-28 in favour of the Steelers
