The Virden Oil Capitals traveled to Selkirk Friday, March 10th to play the steelers.
The Oil Caps defeated the Steelers 2-1.
Roux Bazin scored his 16th of the season on a powerplay with assists from Ethan Guthrie and Joey Bielik at 13:30. The first ended 1-0 for the Caps.
During the second the Steelers tied the game up with Brandon Ambrozik on a powerplay just 3 minutes in.
The game remained tied until halfway through the 3rd period when Colten Miller scored his 14th of the season assisted by Nolan Chastko and Dean Gorchynski.
Sunday, March 12th
The Oil Caps hosted the Selkirk Steelers Sunday night at Tundra Oil & Gas Place.
The Oil Capitals started the scoring off at 2:05 with Nolan Chastko, his 19th of the season on a powerplay assisted by David Bielik and Josh Lehto. The Caps furthered their lead with Colten Miller on another powerplay at 10:47 for his 15th of the season with assists from Nolan Chastko and David Bielik.
The Steelers scored their first of the night at 13:36 by Joel Purdom.
Before the first ended Ethan Guthrie scored the Cap’s 3rd of the night giving the Caps a 2-goal lead to go into the second.
During the second only one goal was scored. Oil Capitals forward Nolan Chastko with his second of the night at 11:38 assisted by Thomas Phillips and Josh Lehto furthering the Oil Caps lead.
In the final period, with the Caps up by 3 Layton Veitch added to the lead with an unassisted goal at 13:19. Shortly after, Owen Weihs scored adding one to Selkirk’s score, however, it wasn’t enough to take the lead.
With just under 3 minutes left in the game, Oil Caps Dean Gorchynski scored an empty netter assisted by Roux Bazin and Ty Plaisier ending the game 6-2 in favor of the Oil Caps.
