Caps Dominate Kings

October 8

Virden, MB –  It was Hockey Night in Oil Country as the Caps took on Dauphin Kings. The Caps came out flying and didn’t stop, beating the Kings 6-2. 

Tanner Lewis scored the first goal of the game and his first of the season at 4:50 in the first period assisted by Jeran Knorr and Kyle Salaway.  Lewis didn’t stop there as he found the back of the net again at 8:02 in the first period to make it 2-0 Caps, scoring his second goal of the season and the second of the night, assisted by Kyle Salaway. Caps continued to fill the back of the net scoring at 10:05 in the first making it 3-0, Caps. The goal was scored by Kolten Kanaski assisted by Sam Schultz and Tristen Cross.  Caps finished off the scoring in the first period going ahead 4-0 – scored by Jeran Knorr assisted by Kyle Salaway and Sam Schultz. 

Early in the second period the Kings found a little fire and put one past Marc Audet to make it 4-1, Caps. Captain, Mack Hardy answered back with an unassisted goal to stretch the lead to 5-1.  The Caps kept the goals coming, Kyle Salaway scored the Caps sixth goal of the game assisted by Jeran Knorr, 6-1 Caps. At 13:21 in the second period the Kings found the back of the net, 6-2 Caps.  

In the third period, neither team found the back of the net. The final score was 6-2 Capitals. The final shots on goal were 44-36 in favour of the Kings.  The win tonight puts the Caps on a two-game winning streak and 4-2-1-0 record this season. 

The Caps earned all three stars of the game: Third star – Jeran Knorr, Second Star – Kyle Salaway, First Star – Tanner Lewis. 

The brand new Redferns Farmer Strong Hardest Working Player of The Game went to Marc Audet.
