Virden, MB - The Oil Capitals faced a tough 3-2 shootout loss last night against the Winnipeg Blues.
First period:
The Caps got things rolling first last night with a goal at 9:09 from Carter Cowlthorp for his sixth of the season assisted by Turner Santin and Tristen Cross. Not long after the Blues answered back with a shorthanded goal at 13:51 scored by Dale Goodbrandson unassisted. At the end of the first period, the game was tied 1-1 and shots on goal were 12-11 in favour of the Caps.
Second period:
No scoring. 1-1 and shots on goal were 8-7 in favour of the Blues.
Third period:
The Caps started off the third period right with a goal at 16:20 from Kyle Salaway for his eighth of the season assisted by Tyler Kirkup. The Caps were in the lead right until the end of the period when the Blues put one past Audet at 19:20 to tie the game 2-2. After 60 minutes of play, the game was all tied up and would head to overtime.
