Caps Outshoot Terriers again

The Oil Caps hit the road last night to take on the Portage Terriers – finishing off a home and home series.  The Caps impressively outshot the Terriers ( The Terriers finished last season with a 52-6-2 record and first, in the league) in Friday nights game.  After outshooting the opponent last game the Caps were fired up to take on the Terriers again.  

The Terriers opened up the scoring early in the first period, 1-0 Terriers. Caps first goal of the game and first of the season was scored at 9:21 in the first tying the game at one. Goal was scored by Jeran Knorr assisted by Captain, Mack Hardy.  Terriers finished off the scoring in the first period adding one more going ahead, 2-1. 

The second period the Caps came out rolling finding the back of the net at 6:03, goal scored by Jesse Korytko assisted by Evan Cusmano – his first game as an Oil Caps player. Terriers potted two more goals in the second period, 4-2 Terriers. 

The Caps once again came out flying scoring early in the third period to cut the lead to 1. Goal was scored at 0:09 in the third – Ben Dalke from Mack Hardy. Terriers got on the board again at 4:40 in the third, stretching the lead, 5-3 Terriers. Oil Caps, Tyler Kirkup didn’t take long to answer back scoring at 5:15 in the third, assisted by Carter Cowlthorp.  Terriers scored two more times making it 7-4, Terriers.  The Caps once again outshot the Terriers, 33 Caps 27 Terriers.

Final Score: 7-4

Multipoint Night: Your Captain, Mack Hardy finished last night’s performance with a 2-point game (2 assists) 
 

Newcomer: Evan Cusmano played his first game as an Oil Cap last night and also registered his first point as a Cap after assisting Jesse Korytko’s goal in the second period.
