Waywayseecappo, MB – The Virden Oil Capitals wrapped up a three in three weekend with a 2-1 loss in Wayway on Sunday night.

The Wolverines would come out really fast to start the first and they would get the opening goal just 31 seconds into the 1st as Layne Anderson’s shot was deflecting home by Johl Swedlo for his 23rd goal of the season to give Wayway a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

In the 2nd period, the Wolverines would add to their lead as Layne Anderson would finish off a nice passing play for his 3rd goal of the season, to give the Wolverines a 2 goal lead at 2-0 after 2 periods.

Mack Hardy would make things interesting as he would cut the Wolverines’ lead in half with a PP goal, his 27th of the year to make it 2-1 but thats as close as they would get as the Wolverines’ held on for their 15th victory of the season.

Troy Martyniuk made 21 saves in the Wolverines net while Sean Kuehn stopped 29 in the losing effort.

The Oil Caps will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday in Steinbach.
