Virden, MB - The Caps took on OCN Blizzard but fell short losing 2-1 early in overtime. The great night of hockey started out with a ceremonial puck drop – honouring our Veterans. It was also the Third Annual Chicken Toss Night – Courtesy of the Good Folks at Chicken Chef in Virden, “Where it always feels like home.”
The first period OCN started off the scoring with a goal from Brady Keeper assisted by Jeremy Dumont at 13:05. The shots on goal after the first period were 10 – 8 in favour of OCN.
The second period the Caps would find themselves on the board early with a goal from Kyle Salaway assisted by Ben Dalke and Tyler Kirkup at 2:41 to tie the game 1-1.
The third period proved to be a lot of back and forth play with neither team able to find the back of the net. After 60 – minutes of play the game was 1-1 and had to be solved in overtime. OCN didn’t take long to put one past Audet – goal scored by Brady Keeper assisted by Anthony Keeper and Travis Roch at 0:19 in OT, to take the game 2-1.
The final shots on goal were 30 – 28 in favour of OCN. The Caps went 0 for 3 on the power play and OCN went 0 for 2.
Redferns Hardest Working Player of the game was Jeran Knorr. The Caps picked up two of three stars:
