Caps Take Down Neepawa

Virden, MB – It was Hockey Night in Oil Country as the Caps took on the Neepawa Natives at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. The Caps got the outcome they were looking for, beating Neepawa 3-1. 

The Caps got on the board early in the first with a powerplay goal at 5:32 – scored by Jeran Knorr assisted by Mack Hardy and Tyler Kirkup.  It didn’t take long for the Caps to score their second of the game getting on the board again at 7:35 – powerplay goal was scored by Kyle Salaway assisted by Turner Santin and Sam Schultz. After the first period of play, the Caps were in the lead 2-0. 

The second period was a quiet one with neither team able to find the back of the net. After 40-minutes of play, the Caps were in the lead 2-0. 

The Natives scored their first goal of the game at 14:34 in the third period. The Natives pulled their goalie in the last minute of play and the Caps were able to score an empty net goal to win the game 3-1. The goal was scored by Jeran Knorr, getting his second of the game assisted by Mack Hardy and Carter Cowlthorp. 

The final score was 3-1, Capitals and final shots on goal were 47 – 35 in favour of the Caps. The Oil Caps next game is an away game, Wednesday, October 26 against Neepawa. The Caps next home game is Sunday, November 6 vs Selkirk Steelers.

The Farmer Strong hardest worker of the game went to Turner Santin.
