The Virden Oil Capitals are pleased to announce that another 2004 born draft choice has signed a letter of intent with the club for next season. Today, it’s Carson Buydens. The 6’1 175-pound forward has played with the U18 Central Plains Capitals the last two seasons. Throughout 50 games, Buydens had 17 goals, 44 points.
Head Coach, and General Manger Tyson Ramsey has this to say on the news..
“To have Carson commit to our program for next season is very exciting,” said Ramsey. “We believe Carson will be a great player in this league and I am very eager to work with him every day. He has tremendous character and has a real passion for the game. He is a big strong guy that has the ability to play in all situations. He makes plays, and his hockey IQ is very high. Carson will develop into a leader on this team and we are very proud to have him become an Oil Cap,” added Ramsey.
During the 2019 MJHL Draft, the Oil Caps traded up in the draft to snag Buydens’ second overall. Buydens played all three games this year in the Pre-Season and tallied one assist in the trio of games. Buydens was sent back to Central Plains before the season.
