Creta re-assigned to Oil Caps

The WHL’s Regina Pats have officially re-assigned 17-year-old blueliner Marco Creta to the Virden Oil Capitals.

Marco Creta is back with the Oil Caps.

The Oak Bluff product was a training camp invite this year with the Pats and ended up signing on with the team. He spent last season with the Oil Capitals, notching two goals and 11 assists in 57 games with the MJHL club.

“We’re excited to have him,” said Jamie Hodson, director of business and hockey operations with the Oil Capitals. “He’s come down with a good mindset who wants to play and be a difference maker and will add some competition to our back-end.”

Hodson says with eight healthy defencemen, there will now be some tough decisions ahead, adding that Brayden Pawluk has spent time up front at forward from time to time and that it could happen again.

“Pawluk has played well up front and could continue to be used as a swing guy who can play forward as well.”

The Oil Caps’ next game action is Thursday night when they host the Portage Terriers at Tundra Oil and Gas Place. Game time for that contest: 7:30 p.m.
