Marco Creta signed a standard Western Hockey League agreement with the Regina Pats on Friday.
The 17-year-old blueliner from Oak Bluff was a training camp invite this year with the Pats. He spent last season with the Oil Capitals, notching two goals and 11 assists in 57 games with the MJHL club.
Creta was the first of two picks for the Oil Caps in the second round of the MJHL Bantam Draft in 2015.
“We are proud of Marco as he takes the next step in his development,” said head coach and GM Troy Leslie. “The Oil Capitals want to thank Marco for his contributions both on and off the ice while in Virden.”
Jamie Hodson, Director of Business and Hockey Operations for the Oil Capitals, says Creta will once again be a great ambassador for the Oil Caps organization moving forward.
“We’re here to develop players to the highest level possible, “Hodson added. “In saying that, we want to continue to build these relationships with the WHL in moving kids up as 17 and 18-year-olds, and at the same time, become a destination for WHL players to come finish off their junior careers if the WHL doesn’t work out for them.”

Just a reminder, Virden Chrysler Dodge Training Camp takes place this weekend at Tundra Oil & Gas Place! The Garry Cup intrasquad game is slated for this Sunday at 6 p.m.
