Virden, MB – Dylan Cusmano had a goal and an assist to lead the Virden Oil Capitals to a 4-2 win over the Swan Valley Stampeders Tuesday night.
The Caps were looking for their 4th straight victory as they continue to chase the Steinbach Pistons for 3rd place in the MJHL standings.
Tanner Lewis opened the scoring midway through the first but it was a quick response from the Stampeders to tie the game prior to the intermission.
The Stamps took a 2-1 lead early in the 2nd off the stick of Josh Martin but the Caps replied with two quick markers of their own.
Brett Sharples scored his first of the season through a screen with a screen in front. Moments later it was Dylan Cusmano ripping a snapshot over the glove of Zach DeGraves to give the Caps the lead.
Dylan Thiessen would add the insurance marker in the third period as the Caps move to 22-11 on the season.
DeGraves made 31 saves for Swan Valley while Sean Kuehn made 20 saves in the Virden net.
The Caps remain in 4th place with 44 points, six behind the idle Steinbach Pistons.
Virden will head to Dauphin on Friday night, before wrapping up their pre-christmas schedule at home vs the Kings on Saturday night.
