GAME 4 ROUND 1

!! THAT’S A SWEEP !!

Saturday night was a lively one at Tundra Oil & Gas Place as the Virden Oil Capitals took on the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. Both teams came out strong, both wanting the win especially after the excitement of game 3 in Waywayseecappo that got tied up by Wayway’s Joey Moffatt with one second left in regular time and then headed into overtime where Braden Fischer scored 39 seconds in for the Caps to take game 3.

Wayway’s Caleb Petrie scored first, 6 minutes into the first period giving the Wolverines an early lead. 2 minutes later Oil Cap Nathan Driver tied the game up on a 2-on-1 with assists from Braden Fischer and Tyler Thoendel. Towards the end of the first period Nathan McInnis scored giving the Oil Caps the lead to head into the second.

The second period started with an unassisted goal from Carson Buydens who furthered the Oil Caps lead just over 2 minutes in. The Wolverines followed with Lucas Eagle who put another one up making it 3-2 with the Caps leading by just one, however, the Oil Caps would answer back a short 28 seconds later. The Caps fourth goal was scored by forward, Colten Miller regaining the 2-goal lead and ending the second 4-2 for the Caps.

In the final period, the Wolverines were only able to snag one goal on Monteith and despite the Caps many shots on Mirwald they weren’t able to further their goal count ending game 4 of the first-round playoffs a tight score at 4-3 for the Caps.
