Kuehn Headlines as Oil Caps’ MNP Player of the Month

The Virden Oil Capitals have shown signs of success during the month of November and Sean Kuehn has been a big reason for that. After being named the MJHL’s MGEU Goaltender of the Month, he has now been named the Oil Capitals MNP Player of the Month for the month of November.

During his eight starts in November, Kuehn posted a 6-2 record and a .918 save percentage to go along with a 2.86 goals against average. His efforts helped pace the team to a 7-3-2 record on the month and push them out of the lower third of the standings into fifth place and pressing for higher.

“We’re very proud of the way Sean has played as of late,” stated Head Coach and GM, Troy Leslie. “He (Kuehn) is giving us a chance to win every night and lately that has been the result we’ve been getting.”

Kuehn also received recognition earlier in the month from the league when he was named the MJHL’s Recycle Everywhere Player of the Week after posting wins over Swan Valley, Dauphin, and Neepawa.

The Oil Caps will have a chance to continue their march up the standings this weekend when they host the Dauphin Kings and Steinbach Pistons. Saturday night is the TSL Teddy Bear Toss slated for 7:30 while Sunday is a 2:30 pm puck drop which will be followed by the MGEU Family Skate following the game with the players.
