Kuehn Holds His Ground in OCN

November 7

The Pas, MB – Sean Kuehn made 43 saves, including a number of them in spectacular fashion to help seal the Oil Capitals 4th consecutive victory, 2-1 over OCN on Saturday night.

In the 2nd meeting in as many days, the Oil Caps came out sluggish in the first period and found themselves down 1-0 early.

Mitch Friesen went wide around Brett Sharples, who caught an edge and put a wrist shot over the blocker to give OCN their first lead of the weekend.

The Oil Caps powerplay, who are 4/7 in their last two games went to work late in the frame and Ben Dalke sniped his 6th of the season on another great setup from Whitecloud and Dudar.

The Virden powerplay continued to click in the 2nd period as Zach Whitecloud scored his first of the year on the man advantage. Ben Dalke and Jake Dudar would pick up their 2nd points of the night on the setup.

It was all shut down from there as Kuehn, and the Oil Caps defense faced 22 shots in the final frame, a number of them coming late with the OCN goalie pulled.

The gutsy effort lifts the Oil Caps to a 10-6 record, one point back of the Steinbach Pistons for 4th in the MJHL standings.

The Caps will wrap up their 3 game northern road trip tonight in Swan Valley. Game time is 6:00.
