MACKENZIE SIGNS LETTER OF INTENT

The Virden Oil Capitals are excited to announce the signing of 2006 forward Luke MacKenzie of the Southwest Cougars to a letter of intent for the 2023 2024 season.  MacKenzie, a product of nearby Pipestone, MB, currently sits third on the Cougars roster in points this season with 11 goals and 17 assists in 28 games.  He has had an exceptional stretch in the last month and a half earning player of the week honours in the Manitoba AAA U18 Hockey League as well as a U18 CEHL team of the week nod in November.
GM and Head Coach Tyson Ramsey was excited to make the signing official.  “It’s very exciting to add a player with Luke’s talents.  He is an elite skater who can play a real ‘power forward’ role as he likes to be physical and he has a very natural ability to score goals and he has done that at every level he has played”, said Ramsey.  “He has really exploded offensively in the last stretch of games and we look forward to seeing how far he can take that.  We are very excited he has committed to us for next season and we would like to officially welcome Luke and his family to the Oil Caps organization.”
