Virden, MB – The Virden Oil Capitals in partnership with MNP are proud to announce that Marc Audet has been named the Player of the Month for February.

​The Thompson, MB product played in 9 games for the Oil Caps in the month of October and helped the team earn five wins. Audet was awarded one first star of the night honours against Winkler Flyers and two second star nights, against OCN Blizzard and Neepawa Natives

October 8th vs Neepawa – Win
October 9th vs Winkler – Win and earned first star of the night with a 40 saves shutout

October 22 vs Neepawa – win and earned second star of the night.

October26th vs Neepawa- win

October 28th vs Winnipeg – win

The Oil Caps and MNP would like to congratulate Audet on his accomplishments so far this season.

Virden, MB – The Virden Oil Capitals in partnership with MNP are proud to announce that Tyler Kirkup has been named the Player of the Month for November.

​The Virden, MB product played in all 12 games for the Oil Caps in the month of November and registered 15  points (6G,9A).

In that span, Kirkup had one 2-point night and three 3- point games.

Kirklan Lycar has been named the MNP Player of the Month for the Virden Oil Capitals hockey club during the month of December. The 19-year-old from Elma, MB lit the lamp three times in the month to go along with nine assists for 13 points in eight games for Virden.

Along with earning this months award, he was also named Recycle Everywhere MJHL Player of the week for the week ending January 1.

Lycar was acquired by the Oil Caps from the Portage Terriers in December and has led the way offensively for the club ever since.

Personal
Son of Mark and Leah Lycar and one of two children: brother Kasey. Lycar’s career highlight was playing in the CJHL Top Prospects Game. Aspires to play hockey as long as he can and go to school. Lists his favourite food as steak and his favourite pre-game meal as pasta. Mentions that his hobbies are golfing, playing NHL 17 and being a Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan. His favourite athlete is Sidney Crosby and his favourite pr=sports team is Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Something that most people wouldn’t know about Lycar is that he skipped a grade when he was younger.

Carter Cowlthorp has been named the MNP Player of the Month for the Virden Oil Capitals hockey club during the month of January. The 20-year-old from Boissevain, Manitoba scored five times in the month to go along with eight assists for 13 points in 11 games for Virden.

Something that most people wouldn’t know about Cowlthorp is that he is an amateur pianist . Lists beating the Winkler Flyers in playoffs as his career highlight. Lists Steak as his favourite food and pasta as his favourite pre-game meal. Cowlthorp’s future goal is to achieve the highest level of professionalism in whichever field he steps into.
