The Virden Oil Capitals have acquired 20-year-old defensemen Brock Shwaluk from the Kindersley Klippers in exchange for future considerations.
The 6’1” 20 year old played a total of 57 games this past season; in that time Shwaluk had one goal, six assists and 166 penalty minutes.
Shwaluk is excited to play with some fellow players he knows. “I wasn’t expecting the trade, however I’m happy to be apart of such a high class organization. My long time best friend Ben Dalke will help make my transition to the team a lot easier.”
“Brock will bring depth and experience to our defensive core, and provide leadership on and off the ice.” Stated Oil Capitals Management. “We’re possibly losing a couple of younger guys to higher levels so we’re preparing for that expectation. Brock adds some grit and moves reasonably well. He’s a real good kid and looks forward to being in Virden.”
After spending a year with the SJHL Shwaluk had this to say about coming back into the MJHL. “I am very eager to come back to the MJHL. My time in the (SJHL) has allowed me to become a more complete player than I was before. I can’t wait to get things started.”
