Oil Capitals add Rampton to board of directors

The Virden Oil Capitals have added a new face to its board of directors.

Shelby Rampton, a Virden area product, has joined as a director on the board effective immediately. Rampton, 38, grew up on a farm north of the oil capital of Manitoba and is currently working at the Virden CIBC as a commercial/agriculture account manager.

Rampton says she’s excited to join the nine other board members – all of which believe in the community and the Oil Capitals organization.

“I love the Oil Caps and that they’re role models in the community,” said Rampton, whose son is in minor hockey. “This type of organization is new to me, however I’ve volunteered extensively with other types of organizations.”

Jamie Hodson, director of business and hockey operations for the Oil Capitals, believes she’ll fit in well and that her charisma, fortitude as well as her experience in the business and finance sector will complement a board that’s focused on growing its fan base in southwestern Manitoba.

“Shelby checks all the boxes, possessing all the traits the board of directors are looking for,” he said.

The Virden Oil Capitals hockey club is entering a challenging yet exciting time as it enters its sixth season in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. As the club strives to become a perennial contender, it’s also well aware of just how important its marketing partners are when it comes to building a team – both on and off the ice.

Rampton recognizes this and says she’s looking forward to working with the board in an effort to reach those goals.

“I’m not sure how I’ll contribute, but my financial background, love of sports, the community and having a young family, I’m hopeful I’ll be able to offer some new ideas,” she said humbly.

The Oil Capitals are delighted you’ve joined the team, Shelby.

Welcome aboard!
