OIL CAPITALS NAME LOGAN RANDS AS CAPTAIN AHEAD OF THE 2021-2022 MJHL SEASON

The Virden Oil Capitals are proud to announce that they have named 3 year veteran defenceman Logan Rands as the team’s captain for the 2021-2022 Manitoba Junior Hockey League season.

Rands (2001), who hails from Portage la Prairie, is entering his 4th season in the MJHL and has spent all of them in an Oil Caps uniform. He has played in 114 regular season games registering 5 goals and 46 assists for 51 points and has also appeared in 6 playoff games.  Rands has taken strides in each of his previous 3 seasons and has developed into one of the most dependable defencemen in the league.  He will be relied upon heavily in his 20 year old season to lead a group that is shaping up to be younger than the teams he has played with in the past.
Head Coach and GM Tyson Ramsey was very excited to be able to hand the captaincy over to Rands. “Logan has been a very hard working and loyal Oil Cap in his time here.  It was very apparent early in his junior career that he had a natural ability to lead,” said Ramsey.  “He will play a big role for us this year not only on the ice in all situations, but off the ice as well with a younger group.  Logan exemplifies all the qualities we look for in our players and we are very excited today to hand over the captain duties to him for next season.”
Rands was also very proud when asked about his new role with the hockey club.  “I am extremely excited and honored to be named the captain of the Oil Caps this season”, said Rands.  “I’ve been with this great organization for the past 3 years and I can’t wait to lead this team going into my final season.  We’ve got a good group of guys returning this year and I expect big things out of us.”
The Oil Caps will open the season at home on September 17th against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.  Season tickets will go on sale soon so keep an eye on our social media platforms and our website for details.
