Oil Capitals sign Roux Bazin

VIRDEN, MB-The Virden Oil Capitals organization is extremely excited to announce the signing of the 2018 first-round pick (10th overall) Roux Bazin.

Bazin enjoyed a good season with the Pembina Valley Hawks U18 AAA team. He tallied 28 goals and finished in the top five in scoring with 55 points.

This was Bazin’s second season with the Hawks and tallied a combined 103 points. Bazin got into game action twice with the Oil Capitals this past season and went pointless.

Head Coach Tyson Ramsey had this to say on the signing.

“This is certainly a very exciting day for our organization.  When we drafted Roux in the first round two years ago, we viewed him as a player that we could eventually build our team around and he hasn’t disappointed.  He has had two real good years in AAA U18 with the Hawks, and we feel he is more than ready to not only step into our lineup but be able to contribute right away.  We feel like Roux will be a top player in this league and we can’t wait to see how he progresses.”

Winnipeg scout for the Oil Capitals, Scott Coates added this about the skilled forward.

“We as an organization are excited to have Roux join the team. He has explosive speed and a great skill and Roux will be a key player for the Oil Capitals moving forward,” said Coates.

The shifty forward had this to say after inking a deal this afternoon.

“I’m super happy to have signed,” said Roux. “The guys welcomed me in right away, and I am super excited for the year to start. I’ve loved my time in Virden so far and I can’t wait to spend the year here”, added Roux.                                                                        “
