Austin Johnston

Austin Johnston is a defenseman from Moosomin.  Johnson sat out last season, except for playing senior hockey, played the previous 3 seasons with the Moose Jaw Generals of the Saskatchewan AAA Midget hockey league.

“I’m very excited to have signed with a organization like the Oil Capitals, they always seem to have a good team and I know it’s a very fun place to play from friends who have played there!” stated Johnston.

“Austin is a local guy from Moosomin and obviously a guy that didn’t play last year and we know that theres some trepidations to that possibly, but he’s firmly committed to this season.” stated Oil Caps management. “We see him as a steady and solid defenseman, a stay at home guy and he was highly sought after so thats one reason why we hung on the opportunity that he may play again.”

“I’ve moved around before for hockey and it is always exciting. Virden is also just 45 minutes down the road from me so it should be a easy transition!” Johnston added.

Thomas Brassard

Thomas Brassard is a defenceman from Thunder Bay who played with the Thunder Bay Kings. In his time there Brassard played 66 games, scoring 6 goals, assisting in 37 and clocking 22 penalty minutes.

“Brassard is a good steady defenceman and i think that he’ll come into camp and be ready to go for the season and i know he’s excited to be out here and we’re excited to have him.  Thomas is a very smart and astute player both on and off the ice.  He is somebody that aspires to get to a higher level of hockey after junior,” Stated Oil Caps management.
