Oil Capitals vs Waywayseecappo Wolverines

The Oil Capitals are now 1-1 in the pre-season.

The Oil Capitals played the Wolverines in their second “rookie” game in two nights, in Ochapawace on the 5th.  Both teams came out flying.  Virden started with the lead and never relinquished, as the Oil Capitals came away with a 7-1 victory.

Head Coach and GM Troy Leslie commented after the game. “I think we were a little tentative early in the game with this being many players first MJHL experience. We settled in period 2 and elevated our competitive level. Both goaltenders were solid. Riley held us in the game early and Eric stepped in and did a great job. All of our 2003 born players competed hard and played with poise.  Our older guys, were solid as well.  This was a total team effort, top to bottom, with the win.”

Up next, the Oil Capitals are set to play the Dauphin Kings in Dauphin this Saturday night. This game will become a much tougher test for some of the players vying for some spots, as the game will include vets.  Both lineups will have rookies positioning themselves for playing time, and veterans finally getting the opportunity to play their first exhibition game of the year.
