Oil Caps Community Connection update

The Virden Oil Capitals remain committed to connecting with the community!

The back half of the month of November included a jam-packed schedule for the Oil Caps players, which included several members of the team taking part in the “Battle of the Books” incentive reading program start up party at Virden Junior High.

Players also took part in a Recycle Everywhere MJHL school ambassador program visit to Goulter School. During the school visit, players delivered a positive message about beverage container recycling.

Members of the club also participated in a monthly visit to a local school along with Cst. Ashley Leifso of the RCMP. Working together, Cst. Leifso and Oil Caps players delivered a positive message to students, youth and community residents at Virden Collegiate.

Members of the team also had a Boston Pizza lunch with Cory Barkley, who was the season ticket draw winner who had the opportunity to have a sit-down meal with some of his favourite Oil Caps.

Some of the players also participated in a Santa brunch and public skate at Oak Lake!

The Oil Capitals hockey club, in partnership with IJack Technologies, remain focused on giving back to the community of Virden and the surrounding area that supports them.

Each hockey season, the Oil Caps volunteer hundreds of hours of their time to both hockey and non-hockey related events.
