OIL CAPS COMPLETE TRADE WITH TERRIERS

The Virden Oil Capitals have traded 20-year-old Goaltender Bailey Monteith and the playing rights to Forward Calder Anderson to the Portage Terriers in exchange for 2005 Forward Daniel Tokariwski and future considerations.

Tyson Ramsey, GM and head coach of the Virden Oil Capitals says “As an organization we are sad to see Bailey move on but he did such a great job for us last year that when the opportunity came up to send him to a team that was hosting the Centennial Cup, we wanted to explore that.  We are getting a great young player in Daniel who will be a big body that can score when he is ready to play at the junior level.  We feel he will be a very good player for us for 3 years.  We want to thank Bailey for all he did for us in his time here and we wish him all the best with his new club.”

Monteith played in 18 regular season games and 10 playoff games for the Caps this past hockey season. He had a 3.27 GAA with a 903 SV% with one shut out in regular season and a 3.58 GAA with an 891 SV% in playoffs.

Monteith is a great player on and off the ice. He will be missed; however, we wish him all the best in Portage!

Daniel Tokariwski played 43 regular season games and 3 playoff games with the Winnipeg Thrashers last season. He had 21 goals and 43 assists in regular season and 1 goal with 5 assists during playoffs.
