Oil Caps continue to advance on all fronts

August 31

Virden, MB -  Heading into the 5th season, the Virden Oil Capitals continue to work hard to build a model Jr ‘A’ Hockey franchise; focusing on development at all levels.

Over the past four seasons, the Caps have proudly developed 12 players that moved on to further their education and continue to play a high caliber of hockey.

However, it’s not only the players the Oil Caps have had a role in developing. The Oil Caps support staff has also enjoyed numerous career advancements. Jillian Irvine (Cockbill) was the first Marketing Manager the Oil Caps hired – now Virden’s Boston Pizza franchise Manager. Former Marketing Manager, Lindsey Gullet – is currently working for the Manitoba Moose as their Game Producer. Former trainers, Stephen Wady – now working as a trainer for the Calgary Stampeders and Brenden Hope – is working as a trainer for the Saskatoon Blades. More currently, former Marketing Manager, Branden Crowe, became the Brandon Wheat Kings new ‘Voice.’

As hard as it was to see the highly talented group of people move on; it truly is a feather in the organization’s hat. The Caps wish them all well in pursuing their dreams.

Oil Capitals President, Dale Lewis said, ”We are extremely proud of the players and staff that have moved on to higher levels. “

Change creates opportunity

The Oil Caps organization firmly believes that they have the best fans in the league; with the community and corporate support second to none. The Caps expect to provide high-quality family entertainment and are committed to building a team structure that excels on all fronts.

Recently, with former Oil Caps Marketing Manager, Branden Crowe moving on to go work with the Wheat Kings; the Caps board immediately began moving forward. In doing that there was some restructuring that has been in the works for some time – having the overall goal of creating an enhanced and more productive work environment.

The Oil Caps organization is proud to introduce Brandi Pollock as the team’s new Public Relations & Marketing Coordinator.

Brandi is considered by many as a local celebrity in the hockey world. After completing her hockey scholarship at Robert Morris University and receiving a degree in communications – Brandi comes to the Oil Caps as a highly qualified individual who will be an asset to the organization.

Her primary duties will be to manage game day events, and will lead the marketing presence of the Oil Caps.

Complementing the newly structured position is Oil Caps, Assistant Coach Carter Duffin – responsible for all corporate partnerships sales activities.

Lewis said, ”Although, we are disappointed to see Branden go, we are also excited about bringing Brandi and Carter on board.  We wish Branden success with his new role with the Wheat Kings and welcome Brandi and Carter into the Oil Caps family.”

The Oil Caps board views this restructuring as a very positive step forward for the organization. It allows the team to offer more service in the head office and a more focused sales effort to support our highly valued corporate partners.  This step also offers more support for the team itself to help Coach Leslie in his quest to bring Virden its first MJHL title.

Go Caps Go,

Brandi Pollock – Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator.
