Oil Caps defeat Terriers

The Virden Oil Capitals continued their solid start to the 2017-2018 MJHL season on Sunday night, defeating the Terriers 4-1 in Portage.

After Turner Ripplinger opened the scoring for the Terriers, the Oil Caps responded with four unanswered the rest of the way to pick up the win. Ben Dalke scored in the first, Tyler Kirkup and Kolton Kanaski netted tallies in the second, while Jeran Knorr added a goal in the final period.

Riley McVeigh stopped 28 of 29 shots between the pipes for Virden to pick up the win.

The Oil Caps are now 5-1 this season. The next game for Virden is Oct. 7 when the Oil Caps once again travel to Portage to battle the Terriers.
