OIL CAPS DEFENCEMAN COMMITS TO CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY OF EDMONTON FOR 2020/2021 SEASON

Oil Capitals 20 year-old defenceman, Darren Gisti, has committed to the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder for next season.  Gisti spent 4 years in the MJHL and played for 6 different teams.  The skilled rearguard who has one of the hardest shots in the league, had 2 different stints in Virden with the Oil Caps playing a total of 41 games and put up 9 goals and 13 assists for 22 points and 16 PIM’s.

“We were very fortunate to acquire Darren at the trade deadline in January.  He solidified our D corps and added skill and maturity that was very important for our group down the stretch and into the playoffs.  We are very proud of Darren and we wish him nothing but success as he moves on to Concordia University of Edmonton.” said Oil Capitals GM and Head Coach Tyson Ramsey.

Gisti was happy to have finalized his decision about where to start his school career, “I am very happy to be joining the Concordia University Thunder next season.  I am excited to start my degree and to be able to continue my hockey career at the same time is great.  I couldn’t have done it without all the love and support from family and friends.” said Gisti.

The Oil Capitals would like to wish Darren good luck as he moves on to the next part of his hockey and school career!
