Oil Caps Fall Short in First Away Exhibition Game

The Virden Oil Capitals started off their 2021/22 hockey pre-season strong and competitive going up against the Portage Terriers in Portage. Falling short to the Portage Terriers in their first away pre-season game 4-3.

The Virden Oil Capitals rookies started out strong with David Bielik and Aiden Wuerfel scoring early in the period and were up 2-0 after the first.

During the second period at 18:37 Ryland Kuczek with the Oil Caps lone goal. Shortly after at 19:48 Austin McLean from the Portage Terriers answered back making the score 3-1 heading into the third period.

Portage came into the third with 2 quick goals making it 3-3 after 60 minutes of play.

They then headed into OT where Portage ended the game with only 19 seconds left of the fourth frame leaving it 4-3 for the Terriers.

The Virden Oil Capitals will meet the Portage Terriers again Sept. 14th at Tundra Oil and Gas Place, 7:30.
