OIL CAPS SWAP GOALTENDING PROSPECTS WITH THE WINKLER FLYERS

The Oil Caps have acquired 2002 goaltending prospect Carson Cherepak in exchange for prospect goaltender Brock Moroz.

Cherepak, from Winnipeg, has started 3 games for the Winnipeg Wild in the Manitoba AAA U18 Hockey League this season, posting a 3-0 record with a 0.66 GAA and a .970 SV% with 2 shutouts.

GM and Head Coach Tyson Ramsey was excited about the move, “Certainly sad to see a prospect like Brock go but being a Pembina Valley kid, he will have a chance to play for his local junior team in Winkler.  In Carson, we get one of the top young goaltenders in the province. He expressed some interest in our program in the summer before Winkler listed him and so it’s nice to have a kid that really wants to be an Oil Cap.  We are looking forward to watching Carson this season and getting him here to Virden in the spring and of course next fall for training camp.”
