Oil Caps Sweep Kings

Virden, MB -  Saturday night was lively at Tundra Oil & Gas Place as the Virden Oil Capitals took on the Dauphin Kings. The Kings came out strong after facing a 3-2 loss to the Caps Friday night. The Kings scored the first and lone in the first period. The second period started out much of the same way, the Kings getting on the board again making it 2-0.  The Oil Caps would answer back potting their first of the night! Caps first goal was scored by #10 Tanner Lewis assisted by #8 Marco Mazza and #11 Kyle Salaway. The Caps tied the game at two a piece with the second scored by #8 Marco Mazza assisted by #6 Conor Keith. That would not be all for the Caps as they potted one more making it 3-2 Caps. Goal scored by #20 Ben Dalke assisted by #2 Marco Creta and #9 McCullough Park. The Kings answered back, nearing the end of the second to tie things back up at 3 after 40 minutes of play. 

The Caps started the third period off right scoring a goal to break the tie and make it 4-3, Caps. Goal was scored by #12 Tyler Kirkup assisted by #9 McCullough Park and #10 Tanner Lewis. The Kings found the back of the net shorty after putting it back even, 4-4.  The Caps broke the tie making it 5-4. The goal was scored by #9 McCullough Park assisted by #15 Jesse Korytko and #16 Skylar Letnz. Scoring one more time before the end of 60 minutes of play and with 15 seconds left on the clock; the Caps would make it 6-4. The goal was scored by # 11 Kyle Salaway assisted by #3 Tristan Cross and #10 Tanner Lewis. Final score – 6-4 Caps. Final Shots on net – 58 Caps & 36 Kings.

The Oil Caps next game is at home Tuesday, September 13 vs Portage Terriers, puck drop is 7:30pm
