Virden, MB – The Virden Oil Capitals wrapped up the MJHL pre-season with a win over the Dauphin Kings in a game that resembled a playoff like atmosphere.
Jake Dudar was the centre of attention for most of the night when it came to the rough stuff but was the hero when it mattered, netting the shootout winner to oft the Caps to a 4-3 win.
Much like last night, the Kings held a lead. Two Kings goals in the first period saw them head to the room with a 2-1 lead after 20.
Tanner Lewis and Devan Schram added goals in the 2nd to put the Oil Caps ahead but it was a late 2nd period marker from Drake Bodie that would send the game to an extra frame.
After a Tyler Kirkup missed to kick off the shootout, it was Dudar with a great shot that sealed the deal and set the tone for the regular season opener next Friday.
The Portage Terriers come to TOGP in one week, Friday the 25th. The Valleyview Coop pre-game festivities kick off at 5:00 in the south parking lot.
