Lucas Oliver has been named the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Recycle Everywhere Player of the Week.

The 20-year-old from Melita has picked the right time to play his best hockey of the season. In the opening round six-game series against the Winkler Flyers, Oliver had six points (3 G, 3 A), five of those coming in the final three games.

During the regular season, Oliver posted 35 points (14 G, 21 A) in 45 games while accumulating 102 penalty minutes.

Oliver and the Oil Caps advanced to the MJHL semifinal on Saturday night after they defeated the Winkler Flyers on home ice in game six. They will now face the RBC Cup hosts, the Portage Terriers, starting Wednesday night in Portage.
