Petersen, Davis Earn AAA Midget League Awards

The Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League handed out some hardware over the past two weeks and a pair of Oil Caps’ prospects were included in two different areas.

League all-stars were announced just prior to New Years where Oil Caps’ goaltending prospect, Josh Petersen of the AAA Midget Brandon Wheat Kings was announced to the first-team all star lineup. Petersen is sporting a 10-2 record with a 1.87 goals against average, .929 save percentage, while posting three shutouts on the season. The grade 11 student at Vincent Massey in Brandon has his Wheat Kings currently sitting in third spot in the AAA Midget league standings with a  20-9-0 record. From a weekly standpoint, Brett Davis of the Eastman Selects was named the Chicken Chef Player of the Week for the league on January 5th. The 15-year-old from Oakbank has 33 points (16 G, 17 A) in 29 games during his rookie campaign and sits third on his team in scoring. Davis was a second round draft pick of the Oil Caps this past spring in the 2014 MJHL draft. The rookie forward and the Eastman Selects sit four points up on Petersen’s Wheat Kings for second spot in the league standings. Both players are members of the Oil Caps 50-man player protected list. Congratulations to both players on your success so far this season and all the best during the rest of your season.
