Virden, MB – For the 2nd straight year the Virden Oil Capitals will host “Pink the Rink” weekend at the Tundra Oil & Gas Place to raise funds and awareness for cancer research and support services in Westman.
The weekend will be held on October 24th and 25th and will once again feature the players wearing custom pink, specially made jerseys sponsored by Essential Energy Services.
The jerseys will be part of a two day long silent auction with the bidding closing at the start of the 3rd period of Sunday’s game vs Portage.
Virden Oil Capital fans will also have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets at the game to win one of the game worn jerseys. Tickets will be available from Canadian Cancer Society volunteers during both games, with the winner to be drawn on Sunday. The Canadian Cancer Society will also be selling “Stick it to Cancer” t-shirts and bracelets at the game.
Proceeds from the weekend will go to benefit the Manitoba Division of Canadian Cancer Society.
Last season, the Oil Caps “Pink the Rink Weekend” raised over $10,000 for the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation.
