Pistons Spoil Digger’s Birthday

December 4

Virden, MB – On a night of celebration for the MJHL’s Favorite Gopher it was the Steinbach Pistons who got the last laugh picking up a 5-3 win over the Oil Capitals on Friday night.

The Pistons got a two goal night out of Hayden Goderis and 33 saves from Roman Bengert to open up a 6 point gap between them and the Oil Caps for 3rd place in the MJHL standings.

Steinbach opened the scoring early in the first and would take a 3-0 lead before Drake Bodie send the 906 fans in attendance into a Teddy Tossing Frenzy!

The Pistons would regain their 3 goal lead early in the third before a late surge from the Caps saw things get interesting.

Colton Spicer and Dylan Thiessen scored a minute apart to cut the lead to one, but the Pistons would seal the deal with an empty netter.

Sean Kuehn made 18 saves in the loss.

The Caps special teams dried up, going 0/4 on the night.

These two teams will square up and do it again tomorrow night at Tundra Oil & Gas Place.

Puck Drop is 7:30.
