Pistons Sweep Weekend Set

December 5

Virden, MB – The Steinbach Pistons got a late 1st period goal from Robert Briem and it was all they would need on route to a 1-0 win over the Oil Caps on Saturday night.

Looking to build on their victory on Friday the Pistons came out with a similar energy tonight out shooting the Caps 12-6 in the first period.

The late goal from Briem would stand up as the eventual winner as the Caps could not beat Jeremy Wik. The Pistons netminder made 34 saves for the shutout.

Sean Kuehn made 23 saves in the losing effort.

The Caps power play was their achilles heal as they went 0 for 5 including failing to score on a five minute major to Breim for kneeing.

The weekend sweep by the Pistons opens up an 8 point gap between them and the Oil Caps for 3rd place in the MJHL Standings.

The Caps are now off until Tuesday when they welcome the OCN Blizzard.

Game time is 7:30.
