PLAYOFFS – GAMES 1 & 2 – ROUND 1

Friday, March 24th, 2023

Virden Oil Cap’s forward Colten Miller opened the scoring at 13:17. Miller’s goal was assisted by Dean Gorchynski and David Bielik. Miller’s goal was the only goal scored in the first.

In the second Nolan Chatko added to the Oil Cap’s lead with a goal at 10:55 assisted by Colten Miller. The Blizzard got on the board at 17:54 by Darik Feasey and Riley Zimmerman.

Before the end of the second Colten Miller scored his second of the night assists from Thomas Phillips and Dean Gorchynski ending the period with the Caps up by 2.

Eight minutes into the final period Oil Caps forward Nolan Chastko furthered the Cap’s lead with his second of the night assisted by Dean Gorchynski and Colten Miller.

At 12:56 OCN’s Ashton Paul scored unassisted adding to the Blizzards score.

Game one of round one ended with the Caps on top 4-2!

 

GAME 2 – ROUND 1

Saturday, March 25th, 2023

The first period saw no goals.

The second saw one goal which was scored by OCN’s Riley Zimmerman at 5:47 putting the Blizzard in the lead.

In the third, Drayden Kurbatoff of OCN got one past the Caps goaltender on a man advantage, adding to the Blizzard’s score.

Oil Caps forward Roux Bazin scored at 16:13 assisted by Dean Gorchynski for the Cap’s only goal of the night.

Drayden Kurbatoff scored with 30 seconds left on an empty net finalizing the game 3-1 for the Blizzard.

The Virden Oil Capital’s next playoff action is Tuesday, March 28th, and Wednesday, March 29th at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. 7:30 pm puck drops.
