Salaway commits to Red Deer College

Former Virden Oil Capital Kyle Salaway has committed to the Red Deer College Kings hockey team.

Salaway was with the Virden Oil Capitals for his three years in the MJHL. During this time with the Capitals he scored a total of 55 goals and assisted 65 goals in a total of 177 games.

“I chose the Kings because they have a lot to offer, it’s a great city to live in, it’s a great school, they’ve got a new rink coming up and it’s a great hockey program that’s always improving.” said Salaway. “I plan on taking electrical or instrumentation engineering while i’m there.”

“We are extremely happy for Kyle as he moves on to the college level in both hockey and his studies. Kyle was a great Oil Capital both on the ice and the community. I speak for the entire organization in thanking him for his contributions in his three years here and wish him future success.” said Oil Caps head coach and GM Troy Leslie.

“My time in Virden was some of the best years of my life, met so many people and made tons of memories I’ll never forget.” Said Salaway “From top to bottom it’s a great organization that I’ll very much miss playing for!”

The Oil Capitals would like to wish Kyle the best in his future endeavours moving forward.
