The Oil Caps Fall to the 4th Place Stampeders

After a close game for the first 2 periods the Oil Caps fall in the third period. The first period saw 2 early Stampeders goal, followed by a Virden goal to make the score 2-1 for the Stampeders early. The second period saw an early goal by Swan Valley followed by a Virden goal to make the score 3-2. The Oil Caps scored a late one to tie the game before Swan Valley scored to make the game 4-3. The third period saw an early couple of goals by the Stampeders and then another late one to make the final score 7-3. 

The first period scoring kicked off at 3:33 when the Stampeders Leyson Coleman scored his 10th of the season to make the score 1-0. Swan Valley’s Josh Maucieri scored his 12th of the season at 10:42 to make the score 2-0. At 11:30 Virden’s Hunter Andrew scored his 10th of the season to cut the Stampeders lead to 2-1.

The second period saw Swan Valley’s Josh Beauchemin scored his 8th of the season at 4:28 to make the score 3-1 for the Stampeders. At 8:21 the Oil Caps Jayden Wojciechowski scored his 6th of the season to cut the Stampeders lead to 3-2. The Oil Caps tied the game 3-3 at 16:41 when Jack Einarson scored  his 13th of season. Swan Valley wasn’t done yet with Tommy Cardinal scoring his 19th of the season on the power play at 19:43 to make the score 4-3. 

The third period kicked off at 0:53 when the Stampeders Tommy Cardinal scored a shorthanded goal, his second of the game, to make the score 5-3 for the Stampeders. At 2:46 Swan Valley’s Carter Cockburn scored his 11th of the season to make the score 6-3 for the Stampeders. Swan Valley’s Luke Beerman scored the final goal of the game, his 17th of the season on the power play at 15:19 to make the final score 7-3 for the Stampeders. 

Swan Valley’s Mikael Foucher took the win stopping 47 of 50 shots put on goal, for a save percentage of 94.0%. Virden’s Ethan Peterson stopped just 27 of 34 shots put on goal for a save percentage of 79.4%.
