The Oil Caps win a big 1st game in 2OT!

After a long game of no scoring and a total of 10 penalties the entire game the game was ended in the 2nd OT period. Virden’s Jack Einarson scored his 1st of playoffs, shorthanded and unassisted, to win the game with a final score of 1-0 for Oil Caps.

Virden’s Ethan Peterson took home the win with a huge 54 stops on all 54 shots for a save percentage of 100%. Winkler’s Dorrin Luding took the loss stopping 36 of 37 shots faced for a save percentage of 97.3%.

Head Coach Tyson Ramsey had this to say after last night’s win :

“I thought our guys did a real good job. I thought we had a real good start to the game and then I felt they kind of gained the momentum back in the latter part of the first and into the second. Our guys did a good job sticking to our structure and we were able to take the game back over in the third and into overtime.

Obviously both goaltenders were great and so happy for Jack Einarson to have scored the winner!!

It was a huge win for our club and we’ll get home and watch the game to make any adjustments we feel are necessary and get ready for game 2. “
