Thiessen Turns the Trick

  November 6

The Pas, MB - Dylan Thiessen notched his first career MJHL Hat-Trick on Friday night on route to a 5-1 Oil Caps win over the OCN Blizzard.

The win opens the 3-game Northern road trip on the right foot, and secured the Caps their third straight victory.

In a relatively even first period, Thiessen needed just 2 seconds of the Caps first powerplay to open the scoring. The Winnipeg native deflected home a point shot from Ben Dalke for his 4th of the year.

Moments later, Nolan Ross made it 2-0, but after a brief discussion, the officials ruled the net was off. The goal was overturned.

OCN would tie it early in the 2nd when Chris Nicolai sent a backhand over the shoulder of Sean Kuehn. Kuehn would go on to make 25 saves for the victory.

Thiessen would score an identical goal to his first just minutes later. Another powerplay, and another great setup from Ben Dalke (with help from Jake Dudar), that made it 2-1.

Jake Dudar would finish off a 3 on 1 and give the Caps a 3-1 lead heading to the third.

It only took 28 seconds for Thiessen to find the hat-trick goal. He buried home a rebound on a point shot from Cole Oliver.

Before the night was over, Devan Schram potted his 2nd of the year to seal the deal and give the Oil Capitals the win.

Zach Whitecloud, Ben Dalke, Devan Schram and Cole Oliver all had two point nights, while Jake Dudar picked up 3 assists on the evening.

The two clubs will square off again on Saturday night. Game time is 7:00.
