Weekend Sweep vs Selkirk

October 31

Virden, MB – The Virden Oil Capitals wrapped up the month of October with back to back wins over the Selkirk Steelers, capped off with a 6-2 win on Halloween night.

The Oil Caps got multi-point nights from six different players, and for the 2nd straight night chased the opposition’s starting goaltender from the net.

The Oil Caps jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first as Tanner Lewis and Kyle Salaway found the back of the net.

Selkirk would fight back and tie things up with back to back goals in the middle frame, both goals coming just a minute apart.

A late 2nd period goal from Jake Dudar would prove to be the eventual game winner. The Winnipeg native added to his team leading point total with a goal and an assist on the night.

A three goal third period would give the fans something to cheer about. Dylan Cusmano got the ball rolling, Kyle Salaway added his 2nd of the night and Mack Hardy converted on a penalty shot to seal the deal.

Sean Kuehn made 29 saves for the victory.

The Caps now have an 8-6 record and will take the week off before heading up north for a three game road trip starting in OCN on Friday night.
