Williams Sparks Oil Caps

Ben Williams scored a pair of goals to lead the Oil Caps to a 3-2 win over the Dauphin Kings, sending 1,013 fans home happy on Tim Hortons Fan Appreciation Night.

The Kings opened the scoring midway through the first period when Ty Moffat scored his second of the season. Williams responded minutes later for the home side on the power play with his 27th of the season with the assist going to Devan Schram and Clay Van Diest.

Dauphin restored their lead in the second on a deflection that caught Sean Kuehn off guard. But it was only 56 seconds before Schram fired a puck off the far post to tie the game back up at 2-2 after two periods.

The Oil Caps came out firing in the third and it was Williams who was rewarded with his second of the night and 28th of the season. Schram again drew an assist on the tally with Soren Frederiksen picking up the other helper.

Neither team would find the back of the net the rest of the game as the Oil Caps finished the night with 31 shots on Kings starter, Connor Shaw. Kuehn picked up the win in net, turning aside 20 of 22 shots he faced.

The Oil Caps will wrap up their home ice regular season schedule tomorrow night against the OCN Blizzard. Someone will win a Trip for 4 in the All Season Properties Vacation Giveaway courtesy of All Season Properties and flight partners Kubota, Morris Sales & Service, Demon Energy Services, and Force Rentals.
