Oct. 7th/22 – The Virden Oil Capitals had everyone on the edge of their seats by the 3rd frame as they played the Swan Valley Stampeders Friday night!

The game started off slow with one goal from Swan’s Trey Sauder over half way through the first period.
The Stampeders held the lead until Caps Defencemen Ethan Guthrie scored with a minute left in the second. Assists to Guthrie were Colten Miller and Josh Lehto.

Heading into the final period tied 1-1 Swans Jakob Jones scored the Stampeders 2nd of the night 2 minutes in.
At 17:24 with only two and a half minutes of regulation time left Caps Dean Gorchynski scored on a powerplay once again tying up the game. Assists to Gorchynski were Ethan Guthrie and Trevor Hunt.

Regulation time ended 2-2 sending the game into a 5 minute 3 on 3 overtime where both teams fought hard however neither scored sending the game into the Oil Caps first shootout of the season!
Up first was SWS Jakob Jones with no goal, followed by VOC Josh Lehto with no goal, up third was SWS Justin Keck with no goal, up fourth and second for the Caps was Nolan Chastko with A GOAL, to end it was SWS Thomas Gazich with no goal ending the game 3-2 in favour of the Oil Caps!!
Owen LaRocque stood tall in net stopping 27 of 29 shots on net, as well as all three shooters in the shootout!

Sat, Oct 8th/22 – The Virden Oil Capitals ended up dropping a 3–0 decision to the Blizzard at Tundra Oil & Gas Place the following night.
First Period saw no goals.
Alex Bernauer opened the scoring for the Blizzard at the 1:51 mark in the second followed by Ryan Monias at 7:05 giving the Stampeders a 2 nothing lead.
Keenan McNeill scored in the third to give OCN a 3-0 lead after nearly 42 minutes of play.
The game ended 3-0 for the Stampeders.
